Getting in shape is not just something needed for people over thirty or someone who has just had kids. Staying in shape is not just for high-school sports stars or Olympic athletes. Fitness should be a part of every individual’s life, no matter what form it takes. Our bodies were created to move, to be made stronger, and to be challenged. Even children should take part in this important aspect of life.
Children’s fitness becomes particularly important when we consider that childhood obesity rates are through the ceiling. Because of this, childhood illnesses such as childhood type ii diabetes are running rampant. It is our responsibility to teach our children healthy, low carbohydrate eating habits and to make sure they have plenty of fun and health-enhancing fitness activities to take part in. Prevention is the best medicine, particularly when it comes to childhood weight loss. By the time your child is obese, you will have already allowed them to permanently damage their metabolic apparatus.

The New Year Means A New Season of The Biggest Loser
Posted on Dec 29, 2009 10:32:22 PM
January 2010 will start the new season of The Biggest Loser. Like most fitness-obsessed Americans, I can’t wait for it to arrive. The drama of watching terribly misinformed fatties battle their bodies at the behest of underqualified gurus is breathtaking.
This year is supposed to have the heaviest contestant ever on the show. That’s all well and fine in terms of how entertaining it will be to watch, but I have to be honest with you, I seriously worry about many of these contestants. They’ve lived a sedentary lifestyle for so long, and have so seriously polluted their bodies, and then you go and throw them into the gym with Jillian and Bob where they’re working out 4 to 6 hours per day. I’m surprised that something bad hasn’t already happened to some of the heaviest people.

Can you really start body building in old age?
The answer is yes! Everyday is a great day for you to get back in shape! A lot of people like to assume that only teenagers and young adults can have that perfect muscular physique, but this is actually not the case. No matter what your age may be – whether you are 40, 50, 60, or even 70 years old! – you can still bulk up, tone up, and start looking and feeling better than ever before. The key is determination. You have to decide that this is something you will not try to do, but actually do. You will become a slim, svelt, toned elderly woman or a fit, ripped old man.

With New Year’s fast approaching, a lot of people will be making resolutions to get fit and exercise regularly. Many will rush out to buy all sorts of exercise equipment during the holidays, full of enthusiasm and determination. And, like every year, that rush of enthusiasm will wear off by February. The cold months, the challenge of the new year, and the distance in time away from the decision to make healthy lifestyle changes all make it very difficult to follow through with this type of resolution. That’s why most of that new home gym equipment that people are buying now will be left gathering dust within a few short months.
3 Reasons to Workout at Home

You can’t turn on a television or radio without grim news about the economy. Many people have lost their jobs and just about everybody else is looking for areas to cut their spending. One of the first steps many people make is to cancel their gym memberships. After all, most gym memberships start collecting dust a few days after sign-up. While cutting out your gym membership is a quick step towards saving money, the good news is that your physical fitness doesn’t have to suffer because of it.
Studies have shown that most people are more likely to workout regularly when they do it themselves, at home! It is much easier than you might imagine to get a robust workout routine that you can complete in your home in just the amount of time it would take you to get into your car and drive to the gym.
Top Workout Videos

The market for fitness videos has become mind-bogglingly huge. It has enjoyed a recent resurgence thanks to the new set of television weight-loss shows and fitness celebrities. And, of course, everybody’s got a theory on which weight loss video will work the best for the largest number of people. Sometimes it is based on an underlying scientific theory that may or may not have validity. Often it is actually based on nothing more than the popularity of the featured trainer and the results they show on their television programs.
It can be difficult to sort through the wide selection that is available. After all, celebrities have been making workout videos for decades, and so onewonders whether there have truly been any new breakthroughs or whether they are simply rehashing the same oldworkout routines.
