Elliptical machines allow you to effectively burn calories by giving you a full body workout minus the problems that people often experience with other mechanical trainers. These machines simulate stair climbing and cross country skiing movements to provide you the physical benefits that you would get from engaging in those activities. Depending on your customized resistance and sometimes the kind of resistance installed—for instance, a band, belt or magnetic system—the value of your workout will vary. The main problem that people don’t know how to solve is just how to choose the best home elliptical machine.
How To Lose Christmas Pounds
Posted on Dec 29, 2009 08:47:35 PM
Oh Christmas pounds,
Oh Christmas pounds,
How tight you make my waistline…
Tis the season to start rethinking our dietary habits once again, after a long holiday season of stuffing our faces with delectable dishes and packing on pounds. Egg nog, fruitcake, figgy pudding, cakes, pies, Christmas cookies. All these wonderful and festive holiday delights are a surefire recipe for fatness. And then we all stand around and wonder, How can I lose those extra Christmas pounds?
The best way to lose the weight you have put on this holiday season is to do the opposite of what you have been doing to your body. You’ve been bingeing on sugary treats, and that send a chemical message to your body that it should store up lots of fat for the wintertime. Which might work out okay for you if you are an Eskimo. Aside for the high blood pressure, cholesterol, and risk of heart attack and stroke that is associated with high sugar intake.
However, if you are living in a civilized society, you will be looked down upon for being big and fat during the winter just the same as you were during the summer. Even as everyone encourages you to continue eating cookies and cakes and pastries. Can you believe it’s 2010 and people still believe that a muffin is a healthy breakfast? It’s nothing but a cupcake!
No, the solution to holiday weight gain is to eschew all sugary treats and get back to basics: meat, vegetables, nuts, and berries. Just like our ancestors ate. Very little sugar means low insulin levels, which means your body will happily burn its stored fat instead of holding onto it and clogging your blood vessel, organs, and waistline.
It really is just that simple, folks! If you want to know how to lose weight after the holidays, you have to look at all the things that you did to get where you are at, and undo them. A good guideline for understanding how to best treat your body is to look at the conditions under which it adapted to life through evolution. Take a look at what our early ancestors ate. Back then there was more death during childbirth, but the average individual lived longer than we do now! There was no diabetes or heart disease or obesity, as scientists have found by examine the bones of these early humans. They were lean, mean, fighting machines. And do you supposed they were baking bread? Refining sugar? Squeezing syrup out of agave cactus?? Nope, none of the above.
If you want to know how to get skinny after the holidays, I’ll tell you for sure that it is really just as easy as this: cut out the sugar and grains, and eat a natural human diet: meat, vegetables, nuts, berries. You’ll see quick weight loss, sustained weight loss, you’ll gain muscle mass, and you’ll look and feel better.
Here’s to a happy and healthy new year!
