Maximize the benefits of vegetable juices for health

Unfortunately, modern living is not good for our health. We work too much, sleep to little, and eat badly. Where once upon a time we would have eaten fresh meats, fruits and vegetables, we now eat a lot of heavily processed “junk” food. Junk because that is what it is – just empty calories of food that does little more than give you the energy to get up again in the morning, and do it all over again…

If you can get a hold of a vegetable juicer, you can cheat at eating your food: Instead of munching carrot sticks, just juice it all! With a juicer, you can easily get the equivalent of several pounds of raw vegetables per day without even trying. Juicing vegetables is really no different to juicing fruit, and a vegetable juicer is not a different or separate machine. I simply refer to vegetable juicing because they are generally better for your health, as they contain less available sugar than fruits do. If you are trying to lose weight as well as improve your general health, then cutting down on sugar intake should be a major consideration for you – so avoid drinking a lot of very sweet fruit juices. If you are comfortable keeping track of the amount of sugar in the servings of fruit and vegetables that you are juicing, then you can mix and match as you please. If you’re not so much a number cruncher, then you may want to consider just sticking with vegetable juices and calling it good enough.

The health benefits of drinking large quantities of fresh juices can often be remarkable. People report higher energy levels, improved digestion, better mood, fewer colds and flus, and better overall health. Why? Because juices are a great source of the vital nutrients that are found in vegetables. Taking your veggies into your system by drinking raw juices on a daily basis can dramatically increase the amounts of raw material your body has to work with in terms of easily-digestible forms of key vitamins, mineral, antioxidants, and phytonutrients.

These are the exact substances that the average modern person has low levels of. Minerals such as potassium, calcium, and magnesium are difficult to absorb when taken in a capsule, but are easily absorbed when added into the diet through fresh juice made from lettuce, carrots, parsley, cucumber, cabbage, spinach, and celery. These nutrients also help to balance out the high levels of sodium that are found in the modern diet, as well as the cancer and disease causing chemicals that find their way onto the plate.
